The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles services Nevada's drivers and ID card holders and register vehicles while maintaining the integrity and privacy of DMV records. The DMV is also responsible for:

• Helping to ensure highway safety through driver education and testing
• Administering financial responsibility laws
• Licensing and regulation of the motor vehicle industry
• Licensing and regulation of private driving schools and instructors
• Investigation of consumer complaints
• Investigation of identity theft and vehicle fraud, including criminal arrests and prosecution
• Collection of all Nevada fuel taxes (including aviation fuel!)
• Collection of Governmental Services Taxes to help fund local governments and schools
