The internship program allows students to gain on-the-job training in civil and environmental engineering, including highway design and construction, bridge engineering, highway maintenance and asset management, as well as traffic operations, environmental stewardship, information technology and more. NDOT seeks students working toward degrees in civil engineering, environmental engineering, business, accounting, construction management, hydrology, information technology, or closely related fields.

Internships typically take place during the summer months.

Applicants must be a high school graduate and currently enrolled in a college degree program. Fields that are accepted are: civil engineering, environmental engineering, business, accounting, construction management, hydrology, information technology, or closely related fields.
