Looking for a unique job opportunity for the winter? The Department of Transportation begins annual winter preparations in early fall by readying snowplows and other pieces of snow and ice equipment for use in snow removal across Nevada.  Year-round, NDOT maintenance professionals perform approximately 75 different types of tasks, from snow, ice, and debris removal to roadway patching, sweeping, slope enhancements, and more. 

NDOT is starting to prepare to keep state roads clear when winter snow flies by hiring temporary winter highway maintenance workers to help plow snow and clear winter highways.   

The majority of positions will be required to operate various types of heavy equipment and require a CDL. Temporary highway maintenance team members receive competitive pay and are eligible for State of Nevada health, annual leave and other benefits. The temporary positions will be available to apply for until filled in each area. 

Applications are being accepted for temporary winter highway maintenance positions in Reno, Carson City, Gardnerville, Silver Springs, Fernley, Fallon, Yerington, and other areas.
